Laser Run is the most exciting creation of UIPM, coming from the combined event and launched in 2015 as a stand-alone as the last part of Modern Pentathlon. Athletes of all ages from 7 to 80 can participate and the event can be hosted almost anywhere.
Laser Run combines Running and Shooting in fast-paced and dynamic races including 2 - 4 rounds of laser pistol shooting from 3 to 10 meters and 2 - 4 times run from 200m to 800m. Athletes have to hit a target 5 times before they can run.
Modern Pentathlon is UIPM’s flagship sport comprising of Swimming, Fencing, Show Jumping, Running and Shooting and offers the ultimate test of an athlete’s fitness, courage and skill. Combining five traditional disciplines in a one day competition, Modern Pentathlon has been a core sport at the Olympic Games since 1912.
The UIPM organizes an annual World Championship for senior, junior and youth athletes, as well as a World Cup Series that consists of four events culminating in a World Cup Final.
Every four years, the ultimate test: The Olympic Games
This is the last step before full Modern Pentathlon. It is composed of 4 out of the 5 disciplines of Modern Pentathlon: Swimming, Fencing, Running and Shooting. All 4 events take place on the same day.
Tetrathlon starts with a swim discipline, followed by the fencing discipline. Points are scored at these two disciplines that determine the staggered starting order for the combined event, the Laser Run.
Biathle is a development sport of Modern Pentathlon invented to create opportunities to train Running and Swimming parts of Pentathlon in real race conditions. It can also be seen as a sport in its own right.
Biathle is an event that involves the following sequence Run-Swim-Run. It is a world class sport but not an Olympic one. The events are continuous. The running segments go from 200m to 1600m and the swimming ones are between 50 and 200m long.
Triathle is a development initiative by UIPM where athletes compete in a shoot-swim-run competition. Triathle made its debut on international stage at the UIPM Biathle-Triathle World Championships 2013 in Cyprus.
A packed start leading to the laser shooting station, shooting down 5 targets after which athletes remove their shoes followed by a swim, upon exiting the swim shoes are put back on and athletes continue the running to complete the sequence of events.
